Sent my x-mas cards today. I'm afraid the overseas ones will arrive after Christmas, but the ones to Europe might get there on time *crosses fingers*.

I read the Ten-Martha novel Snowglobe 7 by Mike Tucker last night, and I must say I really enjoyed it. I liked his previous novel The Nightmare of Black Island as well, so he's turning out to be one of my favourite new Who novel authors. I finished it at 2am in the morning, and I got a decent nightmare out of it, so extra points for that :-P

One of Mike Tucker's biggest strengths in my opinion is writing characters and their interaction - even the most secondary ones truly come to life, be it humans, aliens or robots. Spoilerish review of sorts )

Hmm, that was a fair amount of gushing. Now I've started Martha in the Mirror, but until now it's failed to grip me. We'll see.

A bit late this time around. The Fires of Pompeii )

All in all it was an episode that didn't quite work for me as a whole but had many parts that I enjoyed a lot. 7/10

Partners in Crime )

A great opening episode: lightweight and fun, crack!plot, some really nice character moments. I loved both the Doctor and Donna in this. 4/5

I'm really looking forward to next week's episode. Squee!

It’s funny - there are some episodes that I have to see twice before I really like them, and this is one them. I enjoyed it enough the first time around, but some things bugged me, and some things went by a tad too quickly.

I rewatched it last night (I know, I’m sad), and I liked it a lot better. Some things still didn’t quite work for me - I’m not entirely sure about the real time format, and the guest characters really didn’t get fleshed out as much as I’d liked (they obviously had more time to do this in the thematically somewhat similar Impossible Planet/Satan Pit). Also, I found some of dialogue a bit clunky.

But there was lot’s of stuff I liked as well, so here goes.
Random bits I liked )

The question now is - do I do some house cleaning, or do I make icons? ;-)

I liked it. I thought it was a good, fun episode: snappy dialogue, cool references (YAY - more under the cut), a bit weak plotwise, but enough good stuff to make up for it. I found myself laughing quite a lot.

Nighty nighty, Shakespeare )

Again, I'm sure I've missed stuff. If it's anything important, I'll come back to it later.

Also - Happy Easter to all of you who celebrate it!

Brilliant episode, I thought. Quite intense, great acting, creepy as hell at times ...

Some random things I noticed:

Music and clothes )

I'm sure there was more I wanted to write about, but I can't think of anything right now. Only one more episode! Woe.

But there's a new episode of Doctor Who later today :-)

Just saw this subject line while I was checking my spam filter: "Doctor Approved and Recommended". Oh yeah :-P

Also, if you'd like me to send you a Christmas card but don't know if I have your address or not you post it in my X-mas card poll in this post.

Feel a bit queasy today. My head's been aching for a few days now, and today my stomach seems to be acting up a bit. I'd don't think I'm really getting sick, but I still feel a bit meh.

I'm getting into the mood to start my annual reading of "The Lord of the Rings", but I really should wait until the Christmas holidays - I'll have more time then, and can spend hours on end in my room reading *sighs whistfully*. I could re-read the Harry Potter books in the mean time ...

Finished The Dalek Invasion of Earth the other night - I actually really liked it (though it was a bit slow at times). The First Doctor somehow reminds me of Yoda, but then maybe that's just me, hmm? Some random thoughts )

I'm sure there was more, but that's all I can think of at the moment. I'm in the mood for some more First Doctor now - question is, The Edge of Destruction or The Web Planet.
